Focus of the Ellipsoid is a Blood Magic Ritual which creates a building guide out of supplied blocks.
Recipe [ edit ]
Building a Focus of the Ellipsoid requires 36 Ritual Stones: 8 Earth, 8 Water, 8 Fire, 8 Air, and 4 Dusk. Activating one requires a Weak Activation Crystal and 25,000 LP.
Usage [ edit ]
Focus of the Ellipsoid is a building. Once activated, Focus creates an ellipsoid out of supplied blocks which can be inserted into the bottom of the Master Ritual Stone.
The dimensions of the ellipsoid guide are controlled by placing item stacks into the inventory above the Master Ritual Stone. The number of items in slot 1 determines the x radius, slot 2 the y radius and slot 3 the z radius.
To fuel the ellipsoid, you must put resources in a chest below the ritual. Because you cannot open it after placing the master rune, Hungry Chests from Thaumcraft are recommended since you can open them after placing the master stone.
The running cost of the ritual is proportional to the average of the radii (rounded up).
Ritual
A Ritual is a powerful multi-block structure added by the Blood Magic mod. The effects of Rituals are varied and powerful, from a simple water source to creating an area of creative mode flight.
There are two types of rituals: weak and standard.
Weak Ritual [ edit ]
A weak ritual is simple but can be useful. Each is created by placing a specific block on top of an Imperfect Ritual Stone, then activated by Right-clicking the Stone. Each costs 5,000 Life Essence.
| Block | Effect |
|---|---|
| Creates a thunderstorm | |
| Summons a strong zombie | |
| Makes it night time | |
| Grants Fire Resistance II for 1 minute |
Standard Ritual [ edit ]
A standard ritual is built out of multiple Ritual Stones and one Master Ritual Stone. It is activated using a Weak Activation Crystal or an Awakened Activation Crystal. All rituals have a large LP cost to activate and most have an ongoing LP cost. Rituals can be deactivated by applying a Redstone signal to the Master Ritual Stone.
The Ritual Diviner can be used to quickly build rituals.
Blood Magic
Blood Magic is an older version of Blood Magic 2. It adds a new energy source: blood. Players can sacrifice their health, or that of mobs, to generate Life Essence. This energy can be used at a Blood Altar or Alchemic Chemistry Set to create items or potions. It is also used to fuel Sigils, Rituals and Spells which can damage enemies, create water, summon ores and many other things.

Blood Altar [ edit ]
The Blood Altar is the main crafting block and source of Life Essence. Using a Sacrificial Orb or a Dagger of Sacrifice the player can fill the altar with blood. This blood can be stored into the player’s Soul Network or used to craft items in the Altar.
Tools and Armor [ edit ]
Blood Orbs [ edit ]
A Blood Orb is the Blood Mages primary tool used for crafting many items in the Blood Magic arsenal. They also are used for transferring Life Essence into the players Soul Network. Different tiers provide larger capacity for storage.
Sigils [ edit ]
Sigils are items that provide many different effects, ranging from the creation of water or creation of lava to immunity from fall damage.
Bound Tools [ edit ]
The Ritual of Binding can be used to create bound tools such as the Bound Axe and the Bound Shovel. These tools have no durability but instead they drain Life Essence from the players Soul Network while they are active. Bound tools have powerful right click abilities. For example, the Bound Pickaxe can mine a large area in a single click.
Bound Armor [ edit ]
Bound Armor can be created using a Soul Armour Forge. Bound Armor provides excellent protection from damage and can be upgraded to contain Sigils and provide their effects. Bound Armor has no durability, instead draining Life Essence when damaged.
Rituals [ edit ]
Rituals are multiblock structures which provide effects ranging from creative mode flight and the creation of water to changing the biome of chunks and summoning meteors from the sky. Some are single use, but most provide ongoing effects.
Alchemy [ edit ]
The Alchemic Chemistry Set allows the player to create custom potions. It is also used to create reagents and other intermediate crafting components.
Blood Magic potions can have multiple effects and are refillable. Possible effects are creative mode flight, damage resistance, jump boost and many more.
Spells [ edit ]
Blood Magic has two spell systems. One uses the Spell Table and Unbound Crystal. The more advanced uses multiple blocks connected together to create a custom spell.
These spells can do things such as put out fires, cause rain and lightning or freeze water.
Thaumcraft Integration [ edit ]
In this mod, there are a few things that are integrated with Thaumcraft 4. Thus, everything described in this section requires Thaumcraft 4 to be installed as well.
The first item that is included is the Sanguine Helmet, which has enhanced properties from both the power of blood and thaumaturgy. By taking a simple pair of Goggles of Revealing and using the Ritual of Binding, you can bind an entity to the goggles to give it a stronger magical force. Like the Goggles of Revealing, this helmet will allow you to see Aura Nodes and also glean the magical properties of certain objects. It will also allow you to gain a higher discount in Vis, raising the goggle’s discount from 5% to 6%.
The best part about these is that you can add them to your Bound Helmet to give its revealing properties to the helmet. The vis discount will no longer function, but future items may allow this.
Note: Before version 0.7.3 there was a cross mod compatibility issue with Galacticraft that made it impossible to fill a Blood Altar. This was fixed in 0.7.3.

Structure [ edit ]
Building a Ritual of Binding structure requires a total of 24 Ritual Stone of which 8 remain Ritual Stone and 4 each of the infused Air, Water, Fire and Earth Stone. You need the Elemental Inscription Tools to make one stone for each type. The stone is not single-use. These blocks are placed in a specific pattern around the central Master Ritual Stone: Fire (red) in the cardinal directions 2 blocks away and Air (cyan) 1 block away in a diagonal; the 8 Ritual Stones 1 block beyond and above these and finally place the 4 Water beyond the Fire Stones and the 4 Earth beyond the Air Stones, on top of the 8 Ritual Stones.
Ritual of Binding Structure
Ritual [ edit ]
Effects are achieved by activating the ritual using a Weak Activation Crystal and 5,000 LP and dropping an item onto the Master Ritual Stone. After some pyrotechnics the dropped item transforms into the corresponding bound item and the ritual deactivates. It is advised to put out any fires set in the centre of the structure to avoid scorching the item.
Effect [ edit ]
The Ritual of Binding is used to create the following items:

Convocation of the Damned is a Blood Magic Ritual which creates a demon portal.
Recipe [ edit ]
The Convocation of the Damned requires 128 Ritual Stones: 36 blank stones, 36 air, 8 water, 24 fire, 8 earth and 16 dusk. Activating it requires an Awakened Activation Crystal, 15,000,000 LP and 8 Crystal Belljars. Note: the player will need 25 Rune of the Orb to be able to hold the amount necessary to perform the ritual.
The belljars have to be placed on top of each of the dusk stone pillars and must contain 16,000 AR of one of the following reagents: magicales, potentia, incendium, terrae, tenebrae, sanctus, aether and aquasalus. In order to drain the reagents from the belljars, 4 Alchemy Relays need to be placed around the master stone. Two reagents need to be linked to each of the alchemy relays and the alchemy relays need to be linked to the master stone using the Alchemic Router. Shift-right click to clear the router, shift-right click on the reagent, right click on the reagent, right click on the alchemy relay, shift-right click in the air to clear the router, right click the alchemy relay, right click the master ritual stone. Do the same for the other reagent. Once both reagents are linked to the relay and the relay linked to the master ritual stone, repeat this process for the remaining relays. NOTE: Make sure the reagents are linked to the relays and the relays are linked to the master stone or nothing will happen. Once all reagents are linked, the player should activate the master ritual stone with an Awakened Activation Crystal. Lightning will strike the ritual, damaging all entities that are struck. All the reagents will drain from the crystal belljars, and a blood rune will appear.
Place a Blood Altar on top of the master stone. You can make a trap on top of the altar to prevent the demon from fleeing before you have the chance to kill it. Once the master ritual stone is activated and all reagents are drained, use a Demon Crystal to spawn a demon on top of the Master Ritual Stone. Then sacrifice the demon on the blood altar using a Dagger of Sacrifice which will open the demon portal. The portal will start spawning demons and houses around you so it is best to do this ritual on a floating island and far away from your base.

Usage [ edit ]
The Convocation of the Damned is used to spawn demons who drop Life Shards and Soul Shards. These shards are needed to make a Crystal Cluster and 4 of these crystals are needed to make the Tier 6 blood altar.
Make sure to place your ritual far away from your home base as the demon invasion will take over quite easily. Place the ritual in a large flat area close to the ground. The demon village won’t expand into areas where it doesn’t have solid ground to spawn on.
